2
Take your empty cardboard paper tube and flatten it in half length wise. You will now have a crease at the top and bottom of the tube. Push one of the creases inwards, forming the downward indent of the top of the heart. The other crease will be in the V shape of the bottom of a heart.
3
Have your child gently dip one end of their heart-shaped toilet paper tube into the paint and then onto the paper, creating a stamp.
4
Invite your child to fill the paper with stamps, first using individual paint colors and then mixing the paint colors.

String Art Heart

Supplies:
- Card stock or cardboard
- Heart template (Heart Coloring Pages for examples)
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Yarn
- Yarn needle (optional)
- Scissors
- Scotch tape
Instructions:
1
Trace the heart template onto the cardstock or cardboard, and cut out the heart. Use the hole punch to create a series of holes around the edge of the heart.
2
Tape the end of the yarn to the back of the heart, then pull the yarn through one hole and out another on the opposite side of the heart.
3
Repeat until all the holes are filled and you’re happy with the design. Cut off the yarn and tuck or tape the end on the back of the heart. Add a yarn hanger to display your string art!
Splatter Heart Painting

Supplies:
- Heart templates (Heart Coloring Pages for examples)
- Masking tape
- Plain white paper
- Craft paint
- Water
- Individual cups for different colors
- Paint brushes and/or toothbrushes
Instructions:
1
Cut out the heart templates and arrange them into a design you like on the plain white paper. Remember that the covered areas won’t get any paint splatter, so leave lots of uncovered space for a better effect. Use loops of masking tape to hold the hearts in place.
2
Mix a few drops of each paint color with some water to create runny paint. Now the fun part! Dip your brush into the runny paint, then flick, shake, or run your thumb over the bristles to make the paint fly onto the paper.
3
Repeat until you like the design. Let the paint dry, then remove the heart templates to reveal the finished result!

Tip: This is a messy craft, so cover your work surface, wear old clothes, and use paint that’s washable.
