What You’ll Need for Your Ghost Windsock Craft

  • 1 white paper cup
  • White crepe paper streamers or tissue paper cut into long strips
  • Black marker or black construction paper
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Glue
  • Tape or stapler
  • White yarn or string
  • Child-safe scissors

Instructions for Making a Ghost Windsock

Step 1: Decorate the Ghost

Turn the paper cup upside down. Draw a friendly ghost face with a black marker, or glue on googly eyes and cut out a mouth from black construction paper.

Step 2: Cut the Streamers

Cut several strips of white crepe paper or tissue paper about 10–15 inches long. These will become your ghost’s flowing body.

Step 3: Attach the Streamers

Glue or tape the streamers around the inside edge of the cup so they hang down evenly.

As the wind blows, the streamers will flutter like a floating ghost!

Step 4: Add the Hanging String

Cut a piece of yarn or string about 12 inches long. Use two small pieces of clear tape to attach each end of the yarn to opposite sides of the inside rim of the cup, creating a hanging loop.

For a stronger hold, an adult can use a stapler instead of tape or punch holes through the bottom of the cup, thread the string through it so it’s inside the cup and knot the end of it so it doesn’t come out of the hole.

Your ghost is now ready to hang and dance in the breeze!
