With a ping pong ball, tissue paper, yarn, and a marker, kids can create their own spooky or friendly ghost to hang up indoors for Halloween.

This Halloween craft lets children get creative and practice fine motor skills as they wrap the ping pong ball, tie the yarn, and draw unique faces on their ghosts. What You’ll Need for Your Ping Pong Ghost

  • White tissue paper
  • Ping pong balls
  • Black marker
  • Yarn or ribbon
  • Child-safe scissors

Instructions for Making the Ping Pong Ball Ghosts

Step 1: Wrap the Ping Pong Ball

Cut a square of white tissue paper and lay it flat. Place a ping pong ball in the center of the tissue paper.

Gently gather the tissue paper around the ball, leaving the extra tissue hanging down underneath. This will become your ghost’s flowing body.

Step 2: Secure the Tissue Paper

Cut a short piece of yarn or ribbon and tie it around the tissue paper just below the ping pong ball.

Make sure it’s snug enough to hold the tissue paper in place under the ping pong ball, but be gentle so the tissue paper doesn’t tear.

Step 3: Give Your Ghost a Face

Use a black marker to draw a face on the tissue paper covering the ping pong ball. Add eyes and a mouth to give your ghost its own personality.

Try making a happy ghost, a surprised ghost, a silly ghost, or a spooky ghost!

Tip: Make several ghosts with different expressions and hang them together to create a whole group of floating ghost friends.

Step 4: Add a Hanging String

If you’d like to hang your ghost, cut another piece of yarn or ribbon and attach it to the ghost by threading it through the yarn under the ping pong ball and tying a knot to form a loop.

Hang your finished ghost from a window, doorknob, classroom display, plant, or anywhere that could use a little Halloween decor!
