- black marker

Tip: Add in math practice by counting up the number of houses you fit inside your letter V!

Required Materials
- white, black, and brown paper
- white pipe cleaners
- scissors

Next, cut out a long rectangle from the black construction paper, tapering it at one end. Cut out a shorter black rectangle, tapering it as you cut.
Work with your child to assemble the paper pieces of the violin and glue them down. Then, glue down three long pipe cleaners to form your violin’s strings.
Tip: This instrument could also be a viola. Play the sounds of both instruments to your child and discuss the differences. Then, let your child decide which instrument to create in this craft.

7. V is for Vine
Create a voraciously-growing vine in this simple letter craft.
Required Materials
- two different shades of green paper
- green yarn or pipe cleaners
- scissors
- glue
How To
Draw the outline of a letter V onto a sheet of green paper and have your child cut it out. Then, cut out several leaf shapes from a different shade of green paper (so your leaves stand out against the green of the letter V).
Next, glue down the letter V onto a piece of paper. Ask your child to create a twisty, wavy vine with a piece of yarn or a pipe cleaner and glue it into place on the letter V. Then, have your child glue down the leaves to add the finishing touch to their vine!
8. V is for Violets
Create very dainty violets with leaves made from the letter V!
Required Materials
- white paper
- crayons or markers
How To
Have your child pick their favorite artist’s tool to work with, such as crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Begin by asking them to draw three letter Vs onto their paper. These will be the leaves of their violets. Then, have your child draw stems through the middle of each V. At the top of each stem, your child can draw in a purple flower to create a trio of violets.
9. V is for Vest
This vibrant vest requires just a few snips with a scissors!
Required Materials
- several colors of paper
- marker
- scissors
- glue
How To
Have your child select two different colors of construction paper. To create the vest, have your child fold one of the pieces of paper in half and then cut a curved line into the upper corner, creating the arm holes of the vest. Then have your child cut a slight curve into the top and bottom of the paper. Open up the paper to see the shape of your vest.
Now it’s time to add details to the vest! Cut out two long, short triangles and a long semi-circle from the other sheet of paper. Glue them into place, forming the pockets and neck opening of your vest. Draw in a few buttons (or glue down real ones) and your vest is complete!
