Supplies Needed

Printable “DAD” craft template with large outlined letters and three family photo examples showing children with their fathers, designed for a Father’s Day art activity.

Print out two letter D outlines and one letter A outline. Then select three photos of your dad or of your dad and the people he loves (like you!). Print out the photos in smaller sizes so they fit within the inner outline of the letter D and the upper, triangular space of the letter A outline.

Colorful cut-out “DAD” letters alongside family photos and blue-handled scissors, showing materials prepared for a Father’s Day photo craft activity.

Use markers, paint, crayons, or colored pencils to color in the letter D and letter A outlines. Cut out the letters from the paper, cutting out the inner portion of paper from the letters too.

Close-up of a blue letter “D” craft with a father-and-child photo attached behind the cutout, while a hand positions the photo on white paper for a Father’s Day project.

Cut out each photo so it fits in the opening of each letter. Glue them in place. Glue a square of white paper behind the photos and letters to help make each one sturdier.

Complete this step for each letter, and trim the edges of the white paper backing to ensure it’s not hanging over the edges of the letters.

Colorful letters D-A-D with photos of smiling families inside each letter, forming the word 'DAD' (fatherhood theme).
Light blue rolled paper decorated with blue starburst shapes and green dots, shown as a craft material or decorative background piece for a handmade project.

Decorate both sheets of construction paper. Apply glue to the paper towel tubes. Wrap the construction paper around the paper towel tubes, pressing the paper down to glue it into place. Allow them to dry. Alternatively, you can paint and decorate the paper towel tubes themselves and allow them to dry.

Completed “DAD” photo craft featuring colorful block letters filled with smiling father-and-child pictures, creating a personalized Father’s Day keepsake on a white background.

Arrange the letters to spell out the word DAD. The letter Ds are glued into place in between the paper towel tubes, one towards each end of the tubes. The letter A is placed in between the letter Ds and glued to the front of a paper towel tube, creating a unique three-dimensional look. Wrap up Dad’s gift, present him with his new photo frame, and thank him for all he does for you!
