Curriculum Data Manager
The Curriculum Data Manager will be responsible for setting and tracking parameters for codifying, cataloging, and describing pre-k through grade 2 instructional activities for ABCmouse.com. This person will work as part of a forward-thinking, innovative team, and will collaborate directly with the SVP of Curriculum, Director of Curriculum Planning, and curriculum specialists as well as with creative and production personnel.

The Data Manager will have experience researching, selecting, and using databases in educational contexts and tagging curriculum content, and will have a proven track-record of identifying and describing relationships between learning activities and a variety of curriculum standards.

The position calls for someone who can be highly productive in a collaborative working environment, and who has strong writing skills, keen attention to detail, and excellent working knowledge of standards, database best practices, curriculum design, and instructional models.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing curriculum databases
  • Deep understanding of standards in general, and of the relationships between learning activities and a variety of curriculum standards
  • Extensive experience researching, selecting, and using databases in educational contexts
  • Proven track-record setting parameters for codifying, cataloging and describing instructional activities
  • Experience writing and editing
  • 3+ years of experience as an educator in grades K-3 (preferred)
Duties would include:
  • Review learning activities to determine how they should be described and tagged
  • Maintain a database of information about learning activities
  • Identify how the learning objectives for given learning activities relate to other learning objectives in the database
  • Write clear, brief, highly readable descriptions of learning activities

Book Editor/Writer
The Book Editor/Writer will be responsible for turning curriculum specifications and objectives into engaging and age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction children’s books and book-related formats.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years hands-on experience editing fiction and/or non-fiction book or magazine content for children (including line editing, copyediting, and proofreading)
  • Experience as a published author of children’s content
  • Working knowledge of appropriate vocabulary and text structures for each age/grade-level from Pre-K through 2nd grade (ages 4 – 7)
  • Strong working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to do quality work under tight deadlines

Feature/Game Designer
We are looking for a full-time, in-house Feature/Game Designer.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with feature and game design
  • Experience in highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environments
  • Knowledge of games and apps across multiple genres
  • Knowledge of feature designs, systems design, content design and user experience
  • In addition to working within team, has the ability to work independently with little oversight
  • May perform admin duties as needed
Duties would include:
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and accurate design documentation for new site features and modifications/ expansions of existing features. Split designs into realistic phases for implementation
  • Attend and participate in brainstorms for new front-end features to increase user engagement.
  • Work with Curriculum and Legal as needed to ensure new features use best practices for education and are COPPA/privacy compliant
  • Continually update design documentation and shepherd the design through UX design and production, working with producers, designers, engineers and stakeholders
  • Ability to pitch ideas and share design documents to various internal stakeholders, welcoming feedback and suggestions
  • Familiarity with level design, progression systems, economy balancing and tuning is a plus
  • An advocate for the user, championing elegant design and fun
  • Offer suggestions and concepts that enhance the user experience across platforms

Curriculum Specialist
The Primary Grades Curriculum Specialist will work on developing a forward-looking, interactive curriculum for elementary grades. The position calls for someone with detailed working knowledge of standards and instruction in at least two elementary subjects. This person will be instrumental in creating curriculum specifications for books and multimedia content targeted at students in grades 1 - 5.

The Curriculum Specialist will be a key member of an innovative curriculum development team that creates the engaging, fun activities of the quality that has made ABCmouse.com the top-ranking educational app in the U.S. This person will work directly with the SVP of Curriculum Management, Director of Curriculum Planning, other curriculum specialists as well as creative and production personnel.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5+years of experience working with grades 1-5 curriculum at a school district or at an education technology company
  • Experience in designing/developing interactive educational programs or applications
  • Specialized training and /or experience as a curriculum specialist in grades 1-5 such as reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies art or music
  • Experience teaching elementary grade levels
Duties would include:
  • Write detailed specifications for development of content with specified learning objectives that meet state or other sets of standards
  • Ensure specifications result in highly engaging and interactive content
  • Review content for developmental appropriateness
  • Ensure application of best-practice approaches in the teaching of concepts, principles, information and skills

Director of Curriculum Design, Pre-k – 2
The Director of Curriculum Design is responsible for directing a growing team of curriculum specialists in the development of detailed specifications for learning activities in the pre-k – 2 grade range for ABCmouse.com. This person will work as part of a forward-thinking, innovative team, and will collaborate with the SVP of Curriculum and Director of Curriculum Planning as well as creative and production personnel.

The position calls for someone with detailed working knowledge of standards, curriculum design, instructional models and interactive games in all pre-k – 2 subjects. Qualified applicants will have extensive experience and a proven track record managing a team of curriculum specialists in a highly productive and collaborative working environment.

The Director of Curriculum Design is part of the management team and as such, is responsible for training, mentoring, supervising and coordinating the team of curriculum specialists as well as communicating to other members of the management team on all matters related to the timely and high-quality completion of the assigned deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience managing curriculum personnel and creating and implementing pre-k –2 curriculum, both in print and online.
  • At least 5+years designing/developing interactive online learning applications for pre-k – 2 grade levels.
  • 5 years teaching experience in grades pre-k – 2.
  • Experience and expertise in writing and editing.
  • Specialized training and /or experience as a curriculum specialist in grades pre-k – 2 in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, art or music.
Duties would include:
  • Manage the curriculum specialists who write curriculum specifications.
  • Supervise and review the detailed specifications for development of content with specified learning objectives that meet professional standards for grades pre-k –2.
  • Ensure specifications result in highly engaging and interactive content.
  • Review content for developmental appropriateness and the application of best-practice approaches in the presentation of concepts, principles, information and skills.
  • Manage, develop, evaluate, and mentor the curriculum team to maximize their performance and to achieve their personal, departmental and corporate goals.
